정부가 농어촌 인력난을 해소하고자 하반기 외국인 계절근로자 2만2300여명을 추가로 배정했다. 농림축산식품부, 해양수산부, 법무부는 24일 ‘외국인 계절근로자 배정심사협의회’를 열고 2025년 하반기 외국인 계절근로자 추가 배정 규모를 이같이 확정했다고 27일 밝혔다. 이번 배정심사협의회는 본격적인 수확철을 맞아 일손 부족에 시달리는 농어촌 사정을 중점에 두고 진행됐다. 그 결과 총 2만2731명을 100개 시·군에 투입하기로 했다. 업종별로는 농업 1만7637명, 어업 5094명이다. 이들 인력은 7월부터 지자체별로 순차 도입된다. 이로써 올해 정부가 배정한 외국인 계절근로자는 농업 8만6633명, 어업 8796명, 예비 탄력분 271명 등 총 9만5700명이다. 지난해(6만7778명)와 견줘 41% 증가한 규모로 역대 최대다.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Justice announced on the 27th that they held a 'Foreign Seasonal Worker Allocation Review Council' on the 24th and confirmed the additional allocation size for foreign seasonal workers in the second half of 2025. This allocation review council focused on the difficulties faced by rural and fishing villages suffering from labor shortages during the peak harvest season. As a result, a total of 22,731 people will be deployed to 100 cities and counties. By industry, 17,637 will go to agriculture and 5,094 to fisheries. These workers will be introduced sequentially by local governments starting in July. This brings the total number of foreign seasonal workers allocated by the government this year to 95,700, including 86,633 for agriculture, 8,796 for fisheries, and 271 for flexible reserves. This is a 41% increase compared to last year (67,778 workers) and the largest number ever.
