프랑스 소설 속 괴도 '아르센 루팡'에서 유래된 신조어로, 회사에서 마땅히 해야 할 일을 제대로 하지 않으면서 월급만 축내는 직원을 비꼬는 말이다.
A neologism derived from the French novel character Arsène Lupin, a gentleman thief. It refers to employees who don't properly perform their duties while still receiving their salary.

마치 루팡이 남의 물건을 훔쳐 가듯, 자신의 노동력을 제공하지 않고 월급만 받아 가는 행태를 빗댄 표현입니다. 의외로 입으로만 일하면서 일하는 척 하는 사람도 많다는 점을 잊지 말자.

'썸 타다'는 한국에서만 쓰이는 독특한 표현이기 때문에, 영어로 완벽하게 일대일 대응되는 단어는 없다. 보통 썸을 타다가 연인이 되기도 하고, 그냥 일반적인 친구로 남기도 하기 때문에 남녀 사이에 부담 없이 서로에 대해 약간의 호감과 가능성을 가지고 알아가는 단계라 보면 된다.
