Starting in the second half of 2025, life for foreigners residing in South Korea will become much more convenient. Without the hassle of always carrying a physical Alien Registration Card, the 'Mobile Alien Registration Card' will be introduced, allowing you to easily prove your identity with just your smartphone.

모바일 외국인등록증은 기존의 플라스틱 카드와 동일한 법적 효력을 가지므로 안심하고 사용하실 수 있습니다. 정부는 이 새로운 디지털 신분증을 통해 개인정보를 더욱 안전하게 보호하고, 디지털 시대에 외국인 여러분이 겪을 수 있는 불편함을 해소하고자 합니다.

The Mobile Alien Registration Card will have the same legal validity as the existing plastic card, so you can use it with confidence. The government aims to further protect personal information with this new digital ID and alleviate inconveniences that foreigners may experience in the digital age.

모바일 외국인등록증 발급 방법은 간단합니다. 두 가지 방법 중 편한 것을 선택하세요.
Issuing the Mobile Alien Registration Card is simple. Choose one of the two convenient methods:

• IC 칩이 내장된 외국인등록증 소지: 스마트폰 뒷면에 카드를 태그하여 본인 인증 후 발급받을 수 있습니다.
  If you have an Alien Registration Card with an IC chip: You can get it issued after authenticating yourself by tagging the card to the back of your smartphone.
• 출입국·외국인관서 방문: 가까운 출입국·외국인관서를 방문하여 전용 QR코드를 촬영하여 발급받을 수도 있습니다.
  Visit an Immigration Office: You can also get it issued by visiting a nearby immigration office and scanning a dedicated QR code.

IC 외국인등록증은 기존 카드와 디자인 및 기능이 동일하며, 혹시 스마트폰을 바꾸더라도 간편하게 모바일 신분증을 재발급받을 수 있어 편리합니다.

• 만 14세 이상의 대한민국에 체류 등록된 외국인
  Foreigners aged 14 or older who are registered to reside in South Korea.
• 본인 명의의 스마트폰 소지자 (NFC 기능 필수)
  Individuals who own a smartphone under their own name (NFC function required).
• 알뜰폰 사용자도 이용 가능합니다. (단, 법인 명의의 스마트폰은 이용 불가)
  MVNO (low-cost mobile carrier) users can also use it. (However, smartphones registered under a corporate name cannot be used.)
