Meaning: It is used to indicate the topic of a sentence or when comparing/contrasting with something else. It is used to emphasize information that is already known or the topic within the context.
받침 O: 책은 재미있어요. (책을 주제로 이야기)
Final consonant O: As for books, they are interesting. (Talking about books as the topic.)
받침 X: 시간은 많아요. (시간이 많은 것을 강조)

주의! (Caution!)
'-이/가'는 주어임을 나타내지만, '-은/는'은 꼭 주어가 아니더라도 문장의 주제를 나타낼 수 있어요. 둘을 바꿔 쓰면 어색해지는 경우가 많으니 연습을 많이 해야 해요.
'-이/가' indicates the subject, but '-은/는' can indicate the topic of the sentence even if it's not necessarily the subject. It often becomes awkward if you switch them, so you need to practice a lot.
