Though the world is chaotic, I too have not been composed.
새해에는 하루 또 하루 고요해져야겠다
세상이 소란하지만 나 또한 소음을 더했구나
In the New Year, day by day, I must become calm.
Though the world is noisy, I too have added to the noise.
새해에는 하루 또 하루 멀리 내다봐야겠다
세상이 숨가쁘지만 나 또한 호흡이 짧았구나
In the New Year, day by day, I must look far ahead.
Though the world is breathless, I too had short breath.
새해에는 하루 또 하루 기품 있어야겠다
세상이 현란하지만 나 또한 단아하지 못했구나
In the New Year, day by day, I must be graceful.
Though the world is dazzling, I too have not been elegant.
그리하여 새해에는
내 삶의 가장 깊은 곳에 온전히 집중해야겠다
Therefore, in the New Year,
I must focus entirely on the deepest part of my life.
하루하루의 반복에 의미를 더해가고
내가 해오던 일들을 새롭게 빛내야겠다
Adding meaning to the repetition of each day,
I must make the things I have been doing shine anew.
