지난해 한국에 장기 체류를 위해 입국한 외국인 가운데 베트남 국적자가 처음으로 가장 큰 비중을 차지한 것으로 나타났다. 수년간 1위를 유지해온 중국을 제친 것으로, 국내 외국인 인력 공급 구조가 중국계 동포 중심에서 베트남 유학생과 취업 인력 중심으로 빠르게 변화하고 있다는 분석이 나온다.

Among foreigners who entered South Korea last year for long-term stays, Vietnamese nationals accounted for the largest share for the first time. Overtaking China, which had held the top position for years, analyses suggest rapid structural shifts in Korea's foreign manpower toward Vietnamese international students and employed personnel.

국가데이터처가 발표한 '국제인구이동통계'에 따르면 체류기간 90일을 초과한 국제이동자는 총 129만 6천 명으로 전년 대비 소폭 감소했다. 이 가운데 입국자는 68만 5천 명, 출국자는 61만 1천 명을 기록했다.

According to the International Population Mobility Statistics released by the National Data Agency, total international movers exceeding 90 days of stay reached 1,296,000. Inbound movers were recorded at 685,000, while outbound movers stood at 611,000.

베트남 국적자의 증가는 유학과 일반연수, 계절근로 등 다양한 체류 목적이 동시에 확대된 영향으로 풀이된다. 단순 노동력 유입을 넘어 학업과 전문인력 양성까지 포함한 인적 교류가 확대되는 모습이다.
