아주 먼 옛날, 하늘에서 내려온 선녀와 거대한 목신(목령) 사이에서 '나무도령'이라는 아이가 태어났습니다. 어느 날 하늘에서 끝없는 폭우가 쏟아져 온 세상이 거대한 바다처럼 물에 잠기기 시작했습니다.

A very long time ago, a child named 'Namudoryeong' was born between a heavenly maiden who descended from the sky and a giant tree spirit. One day, torrential rain poured endlessly from the sky, and the entire world began to be submerged like a vast ocean.

아버지인 거대한 나무가 쓰러지자, 나무도령은 줄기에 올라타 물 위를 떠다녔습니다. 표류하던 나무도령은 물에 빠져 죽어가는 개미 떼와 모기 떼, 그리고 동물들을 차례로 구해주었습니다.

When his father, the giant tree, fell down, Namudoryeong climbed onto the trunk and floated on the water. While drifting, Namudoryeong rescued swarms of drowning ants, mosquitoes, and wild animals one after another.

잠시 후 한 소년이 물에 떠내려오며 살려달라고 부르짖었습니다. 나무 아버지는 "사람은 배은망덕하니 구해주지 마라"라고 경고했으나, 불쌍히 여긴 나무도령은 끝내 그 소년도 구해주었습니다.

A moment later, a human boy came floating down, crying out for help. Although his tree father warned, "Humans are ungrateful, do not save him," Namudoryeong felt pity and eventually rescued the boy as well.

마침내 대홍수가 끝나고 높은 산꼭대기에 도달한 그들은 홀로 살아남은 할머니와 두 딸을 만났습니다. 하지만 구출된 소년은 나무도령을 모함하여 할머니의 딸과 먼저 결혼하려고 거짓말을 했습니다.

Finally, as the great flood ended, they reached a high mountain peak where they met an old woman and two daughters who had survived alone. However, the rescued boy framed Namudoryeong and lied in order to marry the old woman's daughter first.

위기의 순간, 나무도령에게 은혜를 입었던 개미 떼가 모래에 섞인 조를 걸러내 주었고, 모기 떼가 진짜 딸이 있는 방을 알려주어 진실을 밝힐 수 있었습니다. 마침내 나무도령은 짝을 찾아 새로운 인류의 시조가 되었습니다!

In the moment of crisis, the ants saved by Namudoryeong sorted millet mixed in sand, and mosquitoes guided him to the room with the real daughter, revealing the truth. Finally, Namudoryeong found his partner and became the ancestor of a new humanity!
