Princess Bari, born as the seventh daughter of King Ogu and abandoned at birth, journeys to the Underworld to obtain the Water of Life when her parents fall ill. Overcoming immense hardships to revive her parents, she becomes the ancestral deity of Korean shamanism who guides souls to the afterlife.

옛날 오구대왕은 아들을 간절히 원했지만 연속해서 딸만 여섯을 얻었고, 일곱째마저 딸로 태어나자 아이를 함에 넣어 바다에 버렸습니다.
Long ago, King Ogu desperately wanted a son, but had six daughters in a row. When the seventh child was also born a girl, he put her in a chest and threw her into the sea.
